Halsey Defends Homophobic Rapper Quavo, Calls Iggy Azalea A “Moron” In New Interview: #HalseyIsOverParty Trends

halsey defends quavo

#HalseyIsOverParty indeed. What the hell, Halsey?

The American singer-songwriter, who recently dominated the Billboard Top 200 with her latest album “hopeless fountain kingdom”, has defended homophobic rapper Quavo and called Iggy Azalea a “fucking moron” in an interview with UK newspaper The Guardian.

On deciding to include Quavo, who uttered a few homophobic remarks earlier this year, on her latest studio album, Halsey said:

“I think he’s misunderstood,” she says. “Just because I choose to be a socially conscious artist, and I’m pretty good at it, that doesn’t mean every artist is going to be equipped to be politically correct. I don’t think he’s inherently homophobic, I think he’s in a tough place of trying to explain what he means. I agree his apology was bullshit but I can’t police everybody.”

Halsey then said one place she can “police” everybody is within the walls of her own album. And this where she slams the hell out of poor Iggy Azalea (who has not been having a good year this year)

“Yes, I can,” she adds, “and there’s a lot of people I wouldn’t put on my record. Iggy Azalea: absolutely not. She had a complete disregard for black culture. Fucking moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.”.

Seriously? Iggy Azalea has just been having fun with her music and the audience positively responded to what she had to offer, at least with her first album. And I don’t remember any backlash to her at all about “cultural appropriation”, and if there was, it would have been a silly backlash. But you know what's funny? Iggy has actually gone out public to defend Halsey from haters and trolls of social media! See below!

And that’s how Halsey repays her? Calling her a “fucking moron”? And saying she's happy about her career going downhill? Halsey, gurl. Chill.

Oh, and as I write this post, I see she’s taking to Twitter to “clarify” her interview on The Guardian and her defense of Quavo.

I didn't know that Quavo had made homophobic comments when I collaborated him. We've never spoken a word to each other”. OK . BUT WHY DEFEND HIM IN THIS INTERVIEW (now that you know what he said). WHY? Didn’t Halsey realize her defense of Quavo would hurt her LGBT fans?

She’s visibly in “damage control” mode. But it ain’t working for me.

I love Halsey but this needs a punishment. I will not be listening to her music for a while. Let’s say a month.

I hope she controls her mouth and tongue for the next interview. She must realize she can’t defend public homophobes in ANY way. And please, don’t insult other artists (e.g Iggy Azalea) before doing a deep research on them. For they could have said nice things about you and even defended you from haters, and you would look like a jerk if you insult them.

And it’s not only me who is disappointed at Halsey, by the way. Several of her fans have taken to Twitter to express their dismay at Halsey’s Quavo defense in her interview for The Guardian. The backslash is so real they have made #HalseyIsOverParty trend.
