Florence and the Machine - "St. Jude" [Music Video Premiere!]
New Florence and the Machine music? Yes, please! The British singer caught fans by surprise a few minutes ago when she premiered on VEVO the official music video for "St. Jude”, a song from her upcoming album “How Big How Blue How Beautiful” (in stores on June 1). This was a simultaneous audio and video premiere as this is the very first time we get to hear “St. Jude” in its full studio version. Is it a new single? Has “What Kind of Man” been scrapped so fast? That’s yet to be clarified by Florence but “St. Jude” hasn’t been liberated for individual purchase on iTunes yet and therefore it can’t be considered a “countdown single” so make your own judgements. Will there be no official singles and just videos premiered from to time for each of the album songs? Is Florence and the Machine debuting a new strategy with this album? So many questions.
Bizarre but emotional
The “St. Jude” video, directed by Vincent Haycock, shows Florence breaking and making up with her boyfriend in the very same rainy day, going to church to pray, and wandering alone throughout the streets and green areas of her town. “St. Jude, the patron saint of the lost causes”, says Florence in the chorus of the song and I think this is where she got her inspiration for this bizarre yet emotional video.
