Fall Out Boy Struggle With Bruno Mars Cover But Nail "Centuries" On BBC "Live Lounge" (Videos)
Who was in London today (Jan. 13)? Fall Out Boy!
The Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz-led rock band were in British capital today doing a whole bunch of promotional rounds with one being a an acoustic show on BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge" on Tuesday noon, UK time.
Their setlist at the Fearne Cotton-hosted radio show included: a cover of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and “Centuries”.
Fall Out Boy are currently promoting the UK release of their new album “American Beauty/American Psycho” which will take place on January 19th, one day before it arrives in the United States.

Loved the “Centuries” performance. Unlike their rendition of “Uptown Funk”, with “Centuries” I really felt I was watching Fall Out Boy. Rock-sounding songs are their thing. I don’t care how much Patrick Stump said he loves funk music (in reference to “Uptown Funk”). He did not do Bruno Mars justice today. He struggled throughout the whole performance, and had to constantly read a paper to not miss the lines (didn't he say he was a fan of the song?).
I just can't understand how he had nailed “Centuries” moments before but totally suck when doing “Uptown Funk”. I guess “Uptown Funk” is a really tough song to sing! Plus, Fall Out Boy cheated on "Live Lounge". The BBC Radio 1 show is supposed to be all about acoustic performances and this FOB "Uptown Funk" cover was not. They clearly used sample of the original studio production of the Mark Ronson hit for their cover performance. They just added a few live electric guitars - which totally didn't get along well with the funk-y beats. Anyhow, I know they just wanted to have fun covering one of their favorite current songs but they gotta remember a lot of people listen to this radio show and they did not give a good image of the band at all with this cover (album release is so close! You can’t do this!). They better pick their covers better next time! I think the only good thing about the "Uptown Funk" performance was seeing Pete bopping to the chorus.
