Esmee Denters Covers Guetta/Usher's 'Without U'

Oh yes, Dutch singer Esmée Denters is still making music! Don't remember her? She was a YouTube sensation from 2006-2007, who racked up millions of views thanks to her covers of other pop stars' hits, and was eventually signed by Justin Timberlake to his Tennman Records label in association with Interscope. Esmee released in 2009 her debut album "Outta Here" whose first single, and title track, went on to peak at #3 in The Netherlands, #7 in the UK, and despite the zero promotion made in the US, "Outta Here" managed to crack the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs Chart. Not a bad start, but sadly for talented Esmee, the follow-up singles were a disaster, and both she and her album went into oblivion.

After two years of hiatus, Esmee wants to make a grand comeback in 2011, although I wouldn't be so optimistic and I'd say 2012 better, lol. According to her Twitter timeline, Esmee's been working hard in the studio recording her second album (Is Justin still backing her up?...), and a first single release is expected to happen 'very soon'. There's a song called "City Lights" that's rumored to be her new single, but hearing a remixed version, I really hope it isn't. It's boring, it sounds dated, the lyrics are dumb = it'll flop hard. She needs to deliver something different! Sad she can't find her musical 'niche' yet.

Anyhow, since there's almost no hype for Esmee's return right now, the Dutch beauty needed to catch the attention somehow, and what better way to do it, than covering a current hit. Watch in the vid above Esmee covering David Guetta and Usher's latest dance hit "Without U" which Esmee has turned into a piano ballad. Now that was flawless! She really has a pretty voice. But while her talent is undeniable, I still think people at her label aren't helping her to find her own sound, and grow up as an artist.
