Demi Lovato’s Savage New Single “Sorry Not Sorry” Premieres: Full Audio + Review!

demi sorry not sorry

Two years after “Confident”, a new Demi Lovato era starts.

Miss Demetria released the first single from her upcoming sixth studio album this Tuesday morning (July 11) on all digital platforms. The song is titled “Sorry Not Sorry” and it has already been serviced to pop radios (it’s all moving quick!).

There has been a lot of buzz and talk about this song, some thinking it could be Demi’s best single ever because of the star level she’s right now in her career, but I guess we’ll have to hear it first, right? Play the full audio below and just a little recommendation before you start streaming: think of someone who has done you wrong in the past and whose late remorse you have not categorized as believable, for you know that person will always be shady and you don’t need that kind of energy in your life. You’ll enjoy Demi’s new single ten times better this way.

Sorry Not Sorry” is a pop song with a little R&B in the singing and a little urban touch in its synthey production. The song is filled with powerhouse vocals from Demi and with vocals you know it’s coming right from her heart (she nails every lyric as if this song was something she’s been wanting to say for a long time). “Sorry Not Sorry” could be interpreted in two ways. One being the typical ex boyfriend scenario with Demi saying she won’t fall for him again and make that same mistake. And there’s also the scenario of the haters (and this is the one I’m sticking with the most), for Demi actually mentioned it when talking about "my upcoming new single" a few weeks ago; she called “Sorry Not Sorry” “one for my haters”. So in this scenario the song could be interpreted in a way that Demi recognizes that her haters have hurt her in the past but she’s built a thicker skin and now she feels stronger than ever and that “Now payback is a bad bitch / And baby, I'm the baddest / You fuckin' with a savage”.

Go girl! Get them!

Is this Demi’s best single ever? Well, truth is that no. “Cool For The Summer” I still like better. But “Sorry Not Sorry” comes close, though. And it could come closer if Demi fixes the song so it is 100% perfect. And I’m talking about the chorus. What were those out of breath-like “I’m not sorry” adlibs? Those were such a turn off. I’m going to need Demi to replace them with the ones that were clearly born for this song and those are loud gospel choir adlibs. The chorus loses so much without them. Big round of applauses for the pre-chorus and bridge of “Sorry Not Sorry”, though. They’re hot, hot, hot.

In conclusion, I will definitely be supporting “Sorry Not Sorry”, hope it becomes a summer hit for Demi, I hope the music video is the hottest thing ever (premiering soon) and makes me like the song even more, and I’m happy the song has great replay value. Despite the chorus semi-fiasco, I’m finding myself replaying this a lot on my Spotify and singing along to it very loudly!
