Carly Rae Jepsen Refuses To Scrap New Album, Premieres New ‘Buzz’ Single “Emotion”: Listen

carly rae jepson emotion song

Please, Carly Rae Jepsen, admit it’s over. It was good while it lasted, wasn’t it? At least you made a lot of money from “Call Me Maybe” and I hope, and pray, you saved and invested in other industries other than music.

The Canadian singer is still going ahead with the June 24 release of her third studio album “Emotion”. I don’t know why the executives of Interscope Records haven’t changed their mind yet and are going to allow this to happen, as my recommendation is for they to break their contract with Carly immediately, pay her accordingly to the terms, drop her, and cancel the release of “Emotion”. Why? Isn’t it evident? This album, if released, is going to be one HUGE flop, and I don’t need to get my crystal ball out to tell. The first-week sales are going to be abysmal, and the LP will be out from the Billboard Top 200 in the second week (or maybe the third).

Why do I think that? Just look at the performance of the first single “I Really Like You”. The pop song (which I liked for the first day or two) only managed to reach #39 on the Hot 100 and #30 on Top 40 radio. This, after the expensive promotional campaign Carly’s label paid for her, which included performances in award shows and all major TV shows – including freakin’ “Saturday Night Live”.

Today, June 3, Carly Rae Jepsen released a new ‘countdown single’ from “Emotion”. It’s the title track. A retro dance-influenced pop song about Carly wanting to make ‘that boy’ fall in love with and praying he imagines in his mind the beautiful things they could be “doing” if together. “In your fantasy, dream about me / And all that we could do with this emotion”, sings Carly in the chorus.

Best adjective to describe this song? Forgettable (and it’s the title track!). I personally don’t feel it, but if there’s still a Carly Rae Jepsen fan out there and it happens to be YOU, the one reading this post right now, carry on and click ‘play’ below.
