Camila Cabello premiered as previously announced the full music video for her latest single “Havana” today on VEVO. The Davey Meyers-directed cinematic music video runs for almost 7 minutes. In it, Camila is seen playing three different roles: an over the top telenovela actress, the stay at home teenager under the supervision of her abuela, and a Hollywood-esque bombshell in a movie.

Official description of the music video taken from press release:

“After a hilarious telenovela-inspired dream sequence, the visual plays out like a mini-movie featuring appearances by Latin superstars Lele Pons and LeJuan James alongside the multiplatinum certified pop powerhouse. Camila goes from watching the action play out in a movie theater to scorching a stage in Havana joined by a crooning Young Thug. Directed by Dave Meyers, it’s an event-sized production worthy of the track’s runaway success around the globe!”

So she found the love that will finally get her out of the house like her abuela wanted? Such a considerate granddaughter!

Yes, the music video is a little bit better than we first anticipated in our review of the trailer. However, in all honesty, the replay value of the music video is scarce. We don’t regret watching in full once, but replaying it again? No. And that’s a bad sign, from us, for a music video. What are your thoughts? We didn’t mind the storyline, it’s definitely “a concept”, and Camila executed all roles quite well, but she must realize she’s a pop singer, at a very early stage in her solo career, and that her fans are hardcore pop lovers. And this “Havana” music video is not oriented to those fans. It looks more like a music video a well-established artist dares to do. We were majorly disappointed when we didn’t get the saxophone trio dance break from the liver performances in the scenes where Camila was wearing the fringe-y red dress. That could have saved the music video a little bit more for us. But we didn’t get it. Camila definitely missed an opportunity here. Should we start a petition for an alternative music video? We don’t mind if it were an all choreography-based music video! But something with pop replay value please.
