Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” Album Sells 231K First Week, Misses Number One on Billboard Top 200

bruno mars misses number one

Bruno Mars' "24K Magic" album final first week sales are in. Drum roll please... The set sold 231,000 copies (sales and streaming combined). 194,000 was the figure of traditional sales. Was this enough to give Bruno his first ever first-week number one album? Unfortunately not... God dammit! Who was to blame? Metallica's new album "Hardwired…to Self-Destruct" (291,000 copies sold). In positive news to the music industry, though, Metallica and Bruno's new albums are the first ones this year to sell over 200,00 units in the same week.

Are Bruno's "24K Magic" first week numbers disappointing in comparison to his previous albums? Not at all! In fact, Bruno has improved his selling power. In 2012 "Unorthodox Jukebox" debuted at number two also selling 192,000 copies in its first week and in 2010 "Doo Wops and the Hooligans" debuted at number three on the Billboard Top 200 selling 55,000 copies in its first seven days of sale.

I am, though, a bit disappointed that after "Uptown Funk" last year and the hit that the amaznig lead single "24K Magic" is currently being Bruno's new LP couldn't sell closer to 400,000 units. I mean these numbers are fine but they aren't superstar numbers, and in my heart Bruno freakin' Mars is a damn superstar. Shame on some people for not recognizing it still.
