Britney Spears - "Perfume" (Music Video)

Did she smell it? Watch now the music video for Britney Spears’ new single “Perfume”. The beautiful Sia-penned ballad is the official follow-up to "Work Bitch" and therefore the second official offering from the pop princess' latest album "Britney Jean", which is expected to disappoint this week with its US chart debut that is reported to be at #3 or #4 selling something less than 120,000 copies. Although being a beautiful song, and Britney’s most lyrically weighty single in a very long time, “Perfume” isn’t connecting, yet, with the general public in the US. Airplay is increasing – but not at a pace that indicates “upcoming smash hit” – however iTunes sales are extremely disappointing. As of this post, and just before the “Perfume” video premiere on VEVO, Britney’s ballad is nowhere to be found in the Top 100 on iTunes USA. The Sia-written song was released in early November.

As for the Joseph Khan-directed video (watch above), it’s quite brilliant. Britney looked splendid (both wearing clothes and in lingerie showing beautiful, glowing skin), and I totally believed her “acting”. The storyline fit the lyrics rather well, and nice at Britney pulling a ”Cry Me A River”. The side profile of her love interest in the video sort of resembles that of Jason Trawick. What happens if “Perfume” flops?. In that case, I am sure this fantastic video will regardless rack up many views, and the sales of Britney’s perfume “Fantasy” (featured a lot in the clip) will rise up this Christmas.
