Alessia Cara Working On Rihanna’s “New Album”. R9 Coming Sooner Than Expected? *Updated: Alessia Clarifies...
The 2017 Juno Awards were hosted in Canada last Sunday but a backstage interview of Alessia Cara for Juno TV has just surfaced online. In this interview, the “Scars to Your Beautiful” singer dropped a bomb. That she has worked on Rihanna’s “new album”. As in the follow-up to “ANTI”? Is R9 coming soon? Watch below:
Given she was asked about “last year” and “ANTI” was released in January 2016, Alessia must've definitely referred to working on a brand new Rihanna LP. “I did my thing (in the studio) and I left”, she commented. She also recalled being starstruck when she met Rihanna face to face for the first time that day and that Riri gave her a big hug, despite Alessia only reaching for a simple handshake.

“I did my thing (in the studio) and I left”…HMMM. Does this mean she just wrote for her or recorded vocals for a collaboration? Could be both, actually. She could’ve written a song for her, Rihanna liked it, and then requested for Alessia to also record vocals. We’re so curious to see the final result of this.
So! Rihanna is already recording R9. And she has done so all throughout 2016. Meaning the album could be almost finished and she could be dropping it later this year or by surprise any day (a very popular trend these times).
