Adam Lambert Goes R&B For His New Song “Underground”: Listen

Adam Lambert serves futuristic R&B in his new song “Underground” which he released on iTunes today (May 15) as the first ‘countdown single’ from his forthcoming third studio album “The Original High”, out June 16.

It is Adam singing; believe me. I too thought that at some parts it didn’t sound like him but there is no mistake. This is “Underground” from “The Original High”.

I am feeling the R&B influence in this song, I think Adam’s vocals sound fab and I like the intense love message of “Underground”. The chorus goes like; “I want you to take me under…ground”. A bit raunchy, huh? I wonder who was on Adam’s mind when recording this song. Does he have a new flame?

Although my appreciation for “Underground” is evident, I don’t think this is a song made for radio, but only to serve as album track. And although I’m liking the two songs we have from “The Original High” so far, I do hope Adam has a few aces up his sleeve for later in this era because I’m starting to believe, hopefully I’m wrong, that he’s recorded an album that is VERY personal to him (so different than what he offered in his last two albums), with a sound that HE wanted to do, but that it’s not necessarily too radio-friendly. I’m really worried about the sales of this album. I hope he’s got a secret “Whataya Want from Me” in this album. And why am I’m so worried about sales if this is a “solid” and “quality” album? Well, because “Trespassing” didn’t sell well and that was one of the reasons why RCA let him go, and I don’t think executives in Adam’s new label Warner Bros. Music are going to like having in their roster and artists that produce “quality” album but don’t bring in the sales. And I’m worried too that if this “bad sales” scenario occurs, he might become label-less again and that his next move will be going independent.

Hit or Miss?
