2016 MTV VMAs - The Performances: Rihanna, Beyoncé, Britney & MORE! (Video)
The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, aka. the 2016 VMAs, were held last night, Sunday, August 28th, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Performers of the night included Rihanna, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Future and Nicki Jonas.
Beyoncé won “Video of the Year” for “Formation” and Rihanna was handed her previously-announced “Video Vanguard Award” by Drake, who called Ms. Fenty “the woman I’ve been in love with since I was 22”.
Quick summary:
- Beyoncé ruled in the performances department last night.
- Rihanna divided her medley of hits into four parts. She excelled in all of them. Bravo! I was especially amazed by her vocal power in the fourth and last part: the ballads performance.
- Britney Spears disappointed a bit with a mimed performance of “Make Me”. She, however, looked hot.
- Nick Jonas did not deserve his main show performance slot. Performing “Bacon”? WTF? And shame at the cliché used with the bouncing cars during Ty Dolla $ign's verse.
